BRUCE GUTHRIE
for Kalispell City Council
4th Ward

Inspired by leading historic walking tours for the Northwest Montana History Museum, I wanted to get involved in the community and contribute in the same way that generations of Kalispell residents have over the decades.
I am running because I believe that democracy means choices and it is good for new ideas and perspectives be represented on the council.
Job number one is to listen to your concerns and look for ways we can do better for our community and the generations to come.

This town is your town!
Let’s work together so that Kalispell continues to be the heart of the Flathead Valley.
Here are a few of the issues I would like to hear your ideas about.

Public/Private Partnerships
There are so many citizen's groups doing great work! They should be supported by our community with a city council that listens to them and understands their goals. In addition to that, when developers propose projects we should work to ensure high standards so that as Kalispell grows it improves life here for everyone.

Vibrant Downtown
Downtown Kalispell is the cradle of our history! The wonderful architecture and historic buildings tell the story of the people who built our town. It should be the hub of our local commercial and cultural existence and a fun place for entertainment and community.

Affordable housing
As the market gets beyond the reach of many people to purchase homes, there are steps we can take to rein those prices in and make sure that the people who work in Kalispell can live in Kalispell in a sustainable way.

Safe and walkable city
Kids should be able to leave the house on foot or bicycle to run an errand or go to a friend's house and have a safe way to go. One of the most cherished memories of growing up is the freedom to travel from place to place. As Kalispell grows, special attention needs to be paid to making sure that generations to come can have the same experience.

Well-maintained parks
Our public spaces should be welcoming for recreation for everyone. Our parks were made to be havens of enjoyment and a celebration of our community. I want our Parks and Recreation department to be empowered to make those spaces everything they were meant to be.

Stewardship of our tax dollars
I am determined to see that every cent that we invest in our community is directed towards making Kalispell an even better place to live! We keep long-term solutions in mind by looking down the road and predicting what the results of today’s decisions will bring.
